3 Ways To Smash Your Monthly Goals

Aim at your monthly goal
dart hitting target

It’s the 3rd day of September, 2018 and never too late to set up your monthly goals. One of the most  words I have been hearing lately is ‘’Smash Your Goals’’. I like this phrase because it gives me a feel that there are things that needs to be achieved in the month. Having learned from a mentor of the importance of setting monthly goals, it has really been helping me on achieving more of my dreams.

One of the important thing to note about goal setting is the need to take action to achieving them. Learning from John C Maxwell, a renowned leadership expert and author of many books, he says that ‘’The Secret of your success is determined by your daily agenda’’

Hence, in achieving monthly goals, there is an agenda that should be followed through. In this post, I will be sharing on 3 practical ways on how you can achieve your monthly goals.

How to Smash Your Monthly Goals

Write Monthly Goals Down In Your Personal Journal

The usefulness of writing down what you intend to achieve is simply amazing. Every month, decide on the things you want to achieve, write them down, put up measurable action plans to them, and also set date on when you will be doing what. Below is an illustration on how to set up a monthly goal:

Taking a Professional Exam to improve my career journey

Action Plan

The following measurable action plan will help me achieve this monthly goal:

  1. Researching online on a professional exam to write in my career field. It could be between the first day and 14th day of the month.
  2. Discussing with my Line Manager on the outcome of my research and seeking advice on the best exam to go for. This can be done within 1 week after my research has been completed.
  3. Finding out how much it will cost me to register for the professional exam and planning on how much to save monthly for it.
  4. Where to get training in preparing for the exam. Searching online on best training centers that offer such services.
  5. Choosing the best time to take the exam. Planning how to take my leave period around the exam period.

Take Action On Your Monthly Goals

After writing down the goals and reviewing it, you need to take actions to achieving them. Be tough on yourself and make the necessary move. From the example above on improving on your career journey with an action plan of speaking with your line manager, the necessary action to take will be to schedule a meeting with him before the planned week runs out. While going to see your manager, ensure you go with relevant questions that will aid your understanding and guide you in decision making.

Review And Keep Track Of Your Goals

As you have written down the goals and apportioned time to the action plan, keep reviewing and ticking off the actions you have executed. Know that sometimes, things don’t necessarily go according to plan. During your review session, you will see the plans you have accomplished and the ones you need to re-plan. Be very honest and flexible during your review session, come up with a plan B when need be.

Conclusion

In conclusion, one of the characteristics of living things G in the acronym MRNIGERD is Growth.  As humans, we need to constantly grow, aiming at new things that will make our lives better daily.
