When you hear the word -Execution, what comes to your mind? While writing this post, I did a quick research online to get some of the best definitions of Execution.
Definition of Execution
Cambridge Dictionary defines Execution as the act of doing or performing something, especially in a planned way, and according to Merriam Webster’s dictionary, it is the act or mode or result of performance. Personally to me, Larry Bossidy’s book title gives it the perfect definition of what Execution means, the discipline of getting things done. Execution is an act of doing something, usually consisting of motion.
Most of the time, then we hear the word Execution, we often feel it is some complex ideology used in the corporate world setting to describe the strategy for achieving a goal. But the principle of Execution can be applied to every facet of life; in our personal day to day activities, relating with people, and with respect to work. Execution is that action that moves your idea from mere dreams to the actual result.
Have you ever wondered why most goals are never achieved?
It is because there was no clear-cut strategy on how to execute them. The goals could be well-written done, but if there is no definite action plan of what to do, and when to do them, nothing gets done. Sometimes, what people call Goals is usually mere wishes of the heart. To learn how to set practical goals, click on this link.
Why am I talking about Execution today?
The year 2019 is gradually coming to an end, and I bet, most people are thinking it is impossible to achieve those goals they set at the beginning of the year.
To Practically Execute your Goals
- Revisit your written down goals, and if you don’t have one, then create one, it’s never too late
- Set practical steps you can take to execute those goals, this means the actual steps to be taken
- Set a timeline for each step earlier identified
- Start executing those outlined steps
- Stay focused all through
