Meet the Entrepreneur

Bolaji Olaide is a Fashion designer building a Fashion brand with her made in Nigeria collections.
She is such an inspiring young lady with unique and creative designs, she basically does wonder with fabrics and I feel so excited interviewing and sharing from her:

Can we meet you?

My name is Bolaji Olaide. I am a graduate of the Polytechnic of Ibadan, where I studied Banking and Finance. I am a fashion designer by profession.

What’s your business line?

Fashion designing and wardrobe management.

What do you do as a wardrobe manager?

Basically, as a wardrobe manager, I give fashion concept to suit different occasions. I make clothing designs and selection for people to suit their individual taste and style. I also assist people out in changing their wears from just regular ones to unique set of styles.

That sounds so interesting .So how did you get the idea or concept about your business?

Well,I have always adored fashion. My flare for fashion gave me a drive to venture into this line hence I had to take it as a career and indeed, it has really been paying off. The Fashion world on its own paves way for creativity and I love that fact. Fashion has always been a part of me, I just had to act it out by starting my own thing and here I am.

So how long has your business been in operation?

I officially commenced January 2nd, 2016 and I have been in operation for about a year and some months now.

That quite some time to me. What are the challenges you often encounter running your business and how have been able to overcome them?

The greatest challenge I usually have to encounter as a Fashion Designer is Time constraint and Mismanagement of fabrics by workers when I am not available. My work demands that I am available and active always .I have to spend quality time with my workers for them to deliver the perfect work for my clients which gives me a heavy work load. I can’t always be energized and available all the time, but I try my best to satisfy my clients within a very constrained time. I overcome this challenge by pushing myself to be available as much as possible to get positive results and satisfy my clients.

What keeps you going despite the challenges?

Passion keeps me going, where there is passion, there is pursuit. I dream of a bigger end and this is my motto, ‘to keep moving! Despite what comes my way! ‘.

I love that, so we need to keep moving in pursuit of fulfilling our desires.

Can you share with us the top three skills needed to become a successful Fashion designer?

In no particular order, I would say commitment, diligence and setting standards for yourself and your business .

Who are the people you look up to in your line of business?

-Deola Sagoe, Colorful Age-old traditions

-Uche Pedro, Bella Naija

-Duro Olowo

What’s that thing you would tell someone thinking of venturing into Fashion designing world?

There is a whole lot to say about starting a Fashion designing business, but for a start, I’d say- ‘Fuel your passion! ‘Passion is what keeps you moving, it’s the fire that fuels your dreams. Without passion, your vision is dim.

Where do you see yourself and your business in 5 years from now?

I see myself and my business global. I see expansion in my business. My design known and worn by all class of people.

Thank you so much for the sharing; we indeed have been inspired by your words…….
