Oladele Tolulope shares his amazing story as a Serial Entrepreneur . He is the CEO VENUS PUBLIX , a company into Caller tunes AD’s, Audio & Video jingle production, Led board AD’s, Bill board AD’s , Website design and productions ,Software Design and Digital marketing .

Can we meet you?

I am Oladele Tolulope an industrial Chemist by profession and a Serial Entrepreneur by vocation. A Graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University. I am driven by the desire to solve problems. I am passionate about amplifying business Ideas. I enjoy meeting people and learning new things.

What is your line of business?

We are into Media/Advertising and Agro-allied exportation .

Can you tell us what Agro-allied exportation means and how you combine that with Advertising?

Agro-allied exportation entails sourcing or producing cash Agro -products such as cashew nuts, Shea butter, sesame seeds, charcoal et.c solely for export to foreign countries .

Advert Consultation is more time and capital intensive, as a result requires delicate attention. So I am currently on the Agro field for now , while Advertising is being managed by proxy or trusted delegates.

So tell us,How did you get the idea or concept about starting your business(es)?

I was into importation while I in the university and hence understand the risks and other challenges involved in the line of business, but still, I wasn’t satisfied .It was simply consumption all the way, which gradually dwindles the economy. I met an Exporter friend later on who introduced me to the business. It was the answer I was looking for, where we can actually produce something and have other countries import them.

After getting the business idea, I did lots of research on the internet, made countless calls, travelled to places (to see things myself) and met people. I researched for more than a year before launching out . Well, I would say that the major kickstart was the desire to produce something others could buy.

I find joy seeing the work of my hands being patronized. The feeling you get knowing your work contributes positively in the international market is next to none.

For Advertisement , it has been in existence for a while now, in diverse forms. We simply saw beyond offering business owners what was merely available. We actually recommend the best mode(s) of Adverts, which meets the motive of business owners, in more Economical and cost effective ways while still yielding the required result; we call it Advert Consultancy .

When did you start your business and how long have you been in operation?

My business started August 2015 and it has been in operation since then.

What are the challenges you often encounter running your business and how have you been able to overcome them?

Hmmm…Challenges? There are a couple of them, but I will just mention the most pertinent ones
1) The economy of the market for one is a major challenge, having to handle people who are not willing to pay for value at your price.
2) Another challenge is the rejection we meet after spending ample time, effort and resources on appointments.

To overcome these challenges, first I had to embrace them as realities that are inevitable when dealing with people.

Next, I sharpened my negotiation skills: I learnt to be definite about my target market. Then I devised a way to make my clients feel they had won a negotiation, when it’s actually a win-win.

Rejections are inevitable; I had to understand that first. But if you prospect to 100 clients per time, the results will outweigh the rejections. Someone is always waiting somewhere to hear about your business.

What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful Entrepreneur in your line of business?

1) Good communication skills
2) Eye for details
3) Consistency

Also, learn to above all-reach the hearts of your market in business. Consistency and client loyalty are built on relationships.

What’s the most inspiring thing you will tell someone who wants to venture into your line of business?

There is so much to say,but I will summariaze my thought into this . In Business generally ,you need to master the heart of WINNING PEOPLE’S HEART. Always approach life with a positive mental attitude. Know that no matter what, Some Will buy , Some Won’t, So What, Someone’s Waiting ” to buy from you……

Where do you see yourself and your business in 5 years from now ?
In 5years, we hope to be in at least 3 states in the country, with a recognized Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria Certification (APCON) in the field.
